Streamyx finally rolled out its 4Mbit/s package. However is it a good deal?
DEAL OR NO DEAL?
in my opinion, its not. sadly but true, when we compare our prices and technology with other countries, we do feel cheated. I pay RM 88 per month for my streamyx 1Mbits/s package. Yes it do comes with a lot of extra stuffs in the package. such as
1. bad telephone customer service
2. ocassional/seasonal/frequent downtime. streamyx is like having PMS every now and then
3. really really bad upload data transfer rate ( i cant upload my any bloody photos whens its high quality. have to shrink it and destroy the quality.)
4. overpriced internet service
as always, they say speed is at the best effort.
If they cant even satisfy the 1Mbit/s customers, how would they do with the 4Mbit/s ones?
when other countries are giving away basic broadband packages from 8Mbit/s, cheaper than our 4mbit/s, customers actually feel cheated, dont we?
anyone with the 4Mbit/s service so far? according to what i heard, tmnet gave free upgrades to 4Mbit/s to some customers in Kuala Lumpur. How true is this news, im not sure either.
“A 75-year-old woman from Karlstad in central Sweden has been given a scorching 40 Gbps internet connection — the fastest residential connection anywhere in the world. Sigbritt Löthberg is the mother of Swedish internet guru Peter Löthberg, who is using his mother to prove that fiber networks can deliver a cost-effective, ultra-fast connection. Sigbritt, who has never owned a computer before, can now watch 1,500 HDTV channels simultaneously or download a whole high definition DVD in two seconds. Apparently ‘the hardest part of the whole project was installing Windows on Sigbritt’s PC.’”

yes. we are tired waiting for our turn to surf ‘true’ high speed broadband. if you say that we are supposed to be grateful on what we have so far, then at least improve our ’slow’ line? by not giving us frequent disconnections and network slow down perhaps? its really irritating. plus what happens to businesses hosted on malaysian servers?

I think business lines are much more high tech-ed.
Think that they’re using those special office lines…
No idea actually, maybe theirs is as shitty as us consumers’ connection.

it might be. however business lines must be expensive. well, thats not an excuse to ditch us customers. if they can really put up with the amount of bandwidth business companies uses, they should be able to make their home users satisfied. after all they should improve their service. will they be able to handle 4Mbit/s when my 1Mbit/s is already horrible enough?
