Technorati

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Technorati's new logo

Technorati is an Internet search engine for searching blogs, competing with Google, Yahoo and IceRocket. As of April 2007, Technorati indexes over 75 million weblogs. The name Technorati is a portmanteau, pointing to the technological version of literati or intellectuals.

It seems like there have been some glitches on the technorati website. Some blogs are experiencing the 0 blog reactions glitch too. All blogs are ranked number 1 now! Do you have any idea how HARD is it to be number one!!!
while i was cheering and rushing to the store to get my favourite red wine for a toast of the goin-to-be-momentarily celebration, the rest of the world too, summarised by grokdotcom

. . . every blogger who’s had even one link documented by Technorati could rejoice more than they already are after being accidentally ranked #1 todaythanks to a glitch.

If rank meant everything, you wouldn’t have to create fresh, original content.

If rank meant everything, blogs wouldn’t be worth reading.

Everyone would be baiting links (like I am).

Like money, when rank means everything, it means nothing.

Do blog readers really care about rank?

Thanks technorati for letting us feel how nice is it to be number one!….until they fix this. :)

S0oo Walewoot right! haha

Adding ads between posts in Widgetized Blogger.com

The new widgetized blogger.com has a lot of features. Adding mini applications, music songs and arranging them has become easier and more user friendly. Crispy! No more manhandling the full HTML code and messing up the whole blog. Plus the Template >>>Page Elements allows you to place it exactly where you want and how you want it. Adding a widget is simple too.

However it can be frustrating on how to add stuffs to appear between your blogposts. This is because while you can add HTML/Javascript columns in your sidebar, header or footer in the Page Elements, there is no way you can add anything to appear between blog posts from there.

Therefore, head on to Template>>>Edit HTML

then look for these code. remember to check the ‘expand widget templates’ you can CTRL-F to look for them.

<data:adStart/>
<b:loop values=’data:posts’ var=’post’>
<b:if cond=’data:post.dateHeader’>
<h2 class=’date-header’><data:post.dateHeader/></h2>
</b:if>
<b:include data=’post’ name=’post’/>
<b:if cond=’data:blog.pageType == “item”‘>
<b:include data=’post’ name=’comments’/>
</b:if>

COPY PASTE YOUR AD CODES HERE

</b:loop>
<data:adEnd/>
</div>

The code for your ads should be between </b:if> and </b:loop>

Your ad should now appear between every posts. :)

While we are still hot on topic, why not adding ads to your blog? Ads such as Nuffnang and Advertlets will generate some side income for your blog. :) Bloggers deserves pocket money!

Petition For Peace

peace.JPG

I got to know of this petition through wunnie on msn. Petitions are not something new but for peace sake, why not make a difference by voicing out? You may not be a superstar, you may not be a beauty queen or Miss Universe. You may only be a student. But you want world peace. We all need it. All you need it to just voice out and sign the petition. One or two may not be heard but a few million people around the globe will create a strong voice. Strong enough for change.

ABOUT THE PETITION AND AFS

AFS Intercultural Programs pioneered exchanges for young people 60 years ago when 52 young people from 10 different countries came to the United States for a year-long exchange experience. The hope for the AFS founders was that by having many young people walking and talking together they would create the basis for a more just and peaceful world. The need for intercultural exchanges today is a great as it ever was.

AFS is sponsoring a major, high profile undertaking for its 60th anniversary year that will be a Petition Drive to gather signatures in support of a global expansion of youth exchange programs.

Apart from signing the petition(no donations needed, just your support, your email and name), you may voice out by answering three thoughtful questions. Questions meaningful but much often neglected.

Three questions:

1. What do you think needs to happen for the world to achieve peace?

World peace is not something that is going to happen overnight. The world is often ruined just because we do not understand each other. Conflict Conflict and never ending Conflict. There was never understanding. Peace is a process. It requires unity and the desire of change for the better. Everyone must get involved. Because the process is OURSELVES.

2. If you traveled to another country or went on an exchange program, tell us where you went and how that experience changed your perspective on the world?

Ive traveled to Singapore years ago. Its an amazing country. The way they study, the way they work, the way they research. They have very little land.They are on a tiny dot on the map. They have very little plantations. But they work hard through the resource they have, brain power. Instead of being jealous at them or we call them ‘KIASU’ (afraid to lose), why not learn from them? We always talk but we never walk the talk. There is never a limit for growth and development. Its all effort.

3. Do you agree with the statement “International youth exchanges promote peace.” Why?

YES. youth are the future leaders. When our future leaders understands each and every culture, without having grudges, discrimination, bias, they are not just a leader of any a country. They are the future leaders of our world.

Look at the amount of ‘PEACE’ they have completed. Its an incredible effort.

So sign it now and make a difference. Together.

What are your opinions about world peace? Ive seen some ppl saying that its impossible to obtain peace. Is that being pessimist or realistic? Would we ever obtain world peace?
